Alversjö Conference and AGM

The 27 Feb-1 March we will meet for the Alversjö Conference. During the weekend we will talk about many interesting and important topics about the community and our land.

If you have a topic you want to talk about please put that in the field when you sign up in the spreadsheet. We have rented the neighbours house where we have comfortable infrastructure at our disposal with sleeping, bathrooms and kitchen - including a large gathering room to have workshops and talks at. Last year the lake was frozen and we did some iceskating and drank hot chocolate for the breaks, so bring some iceskates!

Work is Fun, they say.

Some people say "all is a bit slower in the winter." Maybe that is true. And it's especially true if there just a few hands working on a big projects. It could be much more fun if more are helping and maybe some of them even try something new.

Tiling is one things that needs to be done before the toilets and showers can be installed. That might be a bit of a more difficult task but nobody will be fired if the lines are not straight.
There is also still some walls to be sanded and painted, that is a relatively easy task but it can be dusty. We have suits and masks and a good vacuum cleaner.
We also got a new kitchen which needs to be installed.
And there is wood waiting to be cut and chopped.

And sure we can have fun, good food and maybe a party.

Invitation to the Alversjö Art Symposium

“The art speaks to the land” | ”Konsten talar till landet”

This is a attempt to organise an annual art symposium in Alversjö close to Eksjö in Sweden. A symposium in the classical Greek sense was a drinking party with intellectual conversation, music, and other activities. The Alversjö Art Symposium is intended to be a place of artistic exploration and as an open space for the development of contemporary art.

In this first gathering we want mainly to have dialogues and small workshops to find ideas and ways to organise such symposium in the upcoming years. If you are a professional or semi-professional artist yourself, feel drawn to create art in a natural environment like Alversjö, or want to support the idea of an annual or bi-annual symposium we would love to welcome you here over the weekend of 14-16 August.

There will be a program from Friday to Sunday and you are free to come even some days before or stay a little bit longer. Participation fee is 50€ incl. camping, simple catering which we will cook together, and the contribution to the rent.

If you feel like organizing some event at the land it is possible as a member! The way to do it is simply post an Advice Process over at the Alversjö Talk There you can see other APs for inspiration. If unsure what to do or how, come to the Discord instead.

Membership

Don’t forget to renew your membership or sign up as a new member to support Alversjö. Together we make sure that the land has caretakers and funds to develop it further, and you get access to the land! If we get 1000 members we can pay off the loan and pay the interest every year just from memberships, which would lift a heavy burden off the whole project.

Alversjö Bulletin Board

In this communiy with all its platforms it can be hard to know where to find information and often people want to talk to someone in person about different questions. Here is a prototype for a one page bulletin board. At the Unconference 9-11 feb we looked at it and everyone said that we wanted to try it out. It is a simple one page site and we can have as many areas as we want. The purpose is to help you find information when you want to do things in Alversjö, spread the knowledge among more people and make more feel included in the Alversjö dream.
