Thirty people gathered at the neighbor’s house in Alversjö from 27 February to 1 March. For the fourth time, we started the year with a get-together focused on all the interesting things that are sprouting on the land.
Besides eating and having lots of coffee and fika, we also talked about permanent art, caravan camping, governance, agroforestry, interior design, events, roads and road barriers, and finances.
We went for sunny walks, and bathed in the frozen lake. A strong sense of the year getting started at the land emerged over the weekend, which bodes well for all the events and ideas of the coming spring.
At the Annual General Assembly we elected a new board for the Alversjö Natur AB (first row in image below from left to right, without the kids):

Financial Report from AGM |

This year’s annual report shows the strongest result in Alversjö Natur AB’s history, which is very encouraging for all of us who care about this place and its future.
Total revenue for the year amounted to SEK 3.7 million. Of this, SEK 2.5 million came from Borderland land rent, land memberships, the farm lease, and container storage rental. A further SEK 1.2 million came from the Creative Infrastructure project, funded through a cultural grant from Kulturbryggan.
At the same time, the company had SEK 507,000 in operating costs, including electricity, administration, equipment rental, maintenance of buildings and vehicles, general supplies, insurance, and public authority fees. Depreciation of buildings, land improvements, equipment, and vehicles amounted to SEK 139,000, and interest expenses on the company’s bank loan came to SEK 351,000 during the year.
The result before tax was SEK 2.75 million, the best so far. This means the company is in very good financial health. It gives us room not only to repay part of the loan and renegotiate it at a lower interest rate from 1 April, but also to continue taking care of the land, the buildings, and the shared infrastructure that so much of our cultural life here depends on.
Above all, this is a sign of stability and possibility: that we are building something resilient together, with stronger capacity to steward the property well in the years ahead.

Workshops Update – Designing the Barn Together

Over the weekend at Alversjö Unconference, we did a workshop exploring how the barn should feel — not just how it should look.
Instead of starting with colors or aesthetics, we began with a deeper question: What are we aiming for as a community? Words like participation, greatness, heart, wilderness, spark, and care surfaced again and again. There was a desire for spaces that enable transition — big and playful, yet grounded and functional. A place people want to take responsibility for and neutral enough to enable emergence. We explored how different rooms should support different states.
The hallway and hygiene areas should feel fresh, safe, and cared for: clean without being clinical. The kitchen emerged as the heart: warm, alive, inviting belonging and conversation. The big room needs to hold openness and play, while still feeling safe, intimate, and grounded.
From this, a color direction is taking shape — inspired by landscape: soft sky above, mossy greens for grounding, warm mineral sand tones for gathering, natural wood for intimacy, and deep red accents for pulse and heart.
This is still a living process — but the vision is becoming clearer: we are not just painting walls, we are actually shaping the conditions for participation and collective greatness further ahead.

Some weeks ago we had -23°C one night and some of the following nights also around -18, which caused problems with frozen water pipes and the pump. Luckily as Blaze and Heinz have been on site all winter Blaze was able to fix the pipes temporarily. This needs some better repair in spring and also a solution so it doesn't happen again the coming years. |

- continue painting HQ
- find windows and a door for HQ and install
- find 5m roof ladder and install
- continue installing all dry boards on ceiling in barn
- finish spackling and sanding of dry walls
- tile bathrooms
- paint bathrooms, hallway and kitchen
- when kitchen is finished AND clean move shelves from temporary kitchen to the new one
- install doors to road side from hallway and in living room
- help Christopher finish the pizza oven at Square
- build a house over the well
- build new entrance for water basement
- ...

Invitation to the Alversjö Art Symposium

“The art speaks to the land” | ”Konsten talar till landet”
This is a attempt to organise an annual art symposium in Alversjö close to Eksjö in Sweden. A symposium in the classical Greek sense was a drinking party with intellectual conversation, music, and other activities. The Alversjö Art Symposium is intended to be a place of artistic exploration and as an open space for the development of contemporary art.
In this first gathering we want mainly to have dialogues and small workshops to find ideas and ways to organise such symposium in the upcoming years. If you are a professional or semi-professional artist yourself, feel drawn to create art in a natural environment like Alversjö, or want to support the idea of an annual or bi-annual symposium we would love to welcome you here over the weekend of 14-16 August.
There will be a program from Friday to Sunday and you are free to come even some days before or stay a little bit longer. Participation fee is 50€ incl. camping, simple catering which we will cook together, and the contribution to the rent.

Membership |
|
Don’t forget to renew your membership or sign up as a new member to support Alversjö. Together we make sure that the land has caretakers and funds to develop it further, and you get access to the land!
If we get 1000 members we can pay off the loan and pay the interest every year just from memberships, which would lift a heavy burden off the whole project. |
