Spring has arrived in Alversjö. The jetty is back in the water, the cows are out grazing, and with warmer days and longer evenings, more and more people are joining the work weekends.

Next weekend, May 22–25, work will continue on the machine hall windows, the living room and kitchen in the barn, and the windows at HQ. There will also be gardening projects, but above all, it will be a chance to meet people in the community, spend time together and enjoy the spring in Alversjö. During this spring weekends several Borderland dreams have started to take shape and that will probably continue this weekend too. We have also invited the neighbours to the traditional Grannfika at Sunday 24 May 14:00

Heinz’s Växthus is coming together quickly, and soon the citrus trees and other exotic plants will move in.

Midsummer 19-21 June

Come and eat strawberries, dance at the hills in the sunset, swim in the lakes and bath in the hot saunas. Meet new friends and bring old ones.

Celebrating midsummer in Alversjö has become a beautiful tradition where we can enjoy the land at its most beautiful time.

It’s drinking water in the tap, electricity in the house and a simple kitchen in the barn. Bring food for yourself for the weekend and something to share at the midsummer buffet on Friday at 18:00

There is plenty of space for tents, caravans and vans. The HQ works for sleeping for about 15 people. It’s possible also to sleep in the big heated room in the barn and in the not heated parts of the barn and church.

At stripe you can pay 600 SEK for all year around memberships at Alversjö. HERE

And you can also pay 100 SEK for the weekend to cover electricity, gas and toilet costs. HERE

The Village 6-12 July

A Village is a small, co-created, family-friendly gathering. It’s neither a festival nor a burn, there are no observers, only co-creators. All participants are invited to bring their own gifts and skills to build a magical place together. We’re here to play, learn, explore, invent and share. An exploration of what is possible to achieve together in a village.

Help Beautifying the Barn Backside

Our beloved barn has been modernized with indoor plumbing, magical dishwashing machine, and many other luxurious amenities. In the front of the barn there is a lovely patio that people can enjoy their morning coffee and mingle about...

But in the back.... it's a bit of a mess.

Jake has started an AP to discuss what is to be done with the back side of the barn to make cleaner pathways and ensure proper water drainage. We can already start to shape this part during the next WiP weekend and prepare for the gravel and stones that will come in some weeks.
Concrete blocks have to be moved to build a retaining wall with a bench and we can start digging for the french drain.

New Way to Pay Your Alversjö Membership!!!

Due to some complications with OpenCollectiveEurope, our previous payment partner, we’ve had to find a new way for you to pay your annual membership for Alversjö. Our treasurer, Christian, has set up a Stripe account for this purpose, which will serve as the basis for managing our memberships going forward.

We hope you remember when your current membership expires, and will sign up again via the new system. Otherwise, we would be happy if you didn’t worry too much about the exact date and just did it straight away so you don’t forget.

find 5m roof ladder and install on roof of HQ
finish spackling and sanding of dry walls
tile rest of bathrooms
paint bathrooms, hallway and kitchen
when kitchen is finished AND clean move shelves from temporary kitchen to the new dry storage corner
finish installation of doors to road side from hallway and in living room
help Christopher finish the pizza oven at Square
build a dog house over the well
build new entrance for water basement
move fire wood to shed near machine hall
pick out weed in Secret Garden and the Square
clean truck from rust, fix holes and spray with new paint
keep bathrooms and kitchen clean and tidy
...

Don’t forget to renew your membership or sign up as a new member to support Alversjö. Together we make sure that the land has caretakers and funds to develop it further, and you get access to the land! If we get 1000 members we can pay off the loan and pay the interest every year just from memberships, which would lift a heavy burden off the whole project.
